AEOA offers Meals on Wheels to older adults (60 and over) who are homebound, ensuring they receive nutritious meals, friendly check-ins, and the support needed to remain independent in their own homes. Our dedicated volunteers deliver more than just food, they bring connection, compassion, and peace of mind to individuals who may otherwise feel isolated. Through this essential community program, AEOA works every day to promote well-being, reduce loneliness, and help older adults live safely with dignity.
Hot, nutritious meals are delivered Monday through Friday, while frozen meals are available for weekends, holidays, and closure days. Clients can mix hot and frozen options and set a schedule that works best for them, with a minimum of three meals per week. In rural, isolated areas, clients may enroll to receive 10 or 14 nutritious frozen meals, complete with sides and beverages, delivered every other week.
Our meals are developed and approved by a licensed, registered dietitian to ensure that they are healthy and nutritious. ServSafe-certified kitchen staff then prepare and package meals in our commercial kitchens that are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health and are inspected annually.
To help offset program costs, contribution statements are sent out requesting a suggested contribution of $5.00 for each meal. No one is denied service because of the inability to pay. A person’s meals may be covered by contacting county social services or Minnesota Senior Health Options.
Our volunteers ensure your fresh, hot or frozen meals arrive safely. Volunteers personally greet and get to know each person. Older adults appreciate the friendly, personal interaction, which for many is the only person they see or speak to throughout the day. Family members gain peace of mind in knowing that someone is checking on their loved one daily. If the delivery volunteer notices anything of concern, family members are notified.
