The Groceries to Go Program provides a grocery service to homebound older adults unable to manage grocery shopping. The service includes taking grocery orders, shopping, and delivering groceries to the clients’ homes. Orders are taken once a week by staff and volunteers. Volunteers shop and deliver groceries directly weekly to the clients’ homes.
Homebound seniors over the age of 60 living in the following communities:
Along with groceries, clients receive an itemized grocery receipt and an envelope addressed to the store if paying by check. Multiple payment options are available and will be set up with the program coordinator during intake. Once set up, payments are made directly to the grocery store.
Funding from the Older Americans Act requires the program to offer clients an opportunity to cost-share or contribute for the service. Every quarter, the program mails a cost-share letter to clients stating the suggested contribution based on household size and reported income. No one is denied service due to their refusal or inability to contribute.

The program recruits and schedules community volunteers to shop for and deliver groceries directly to older adults at their homes. No money changes hands, as payment for the groceries is sent directly to the store. Our volunteers play a vital part in helping older adults remain independent in their homes. We can always use more volunteers to support our work.
