ALERT: Don’t become a Victim of Mortgage Scams!
Availability: Applicants must be a resident of Cook, Lake, or St. Louis County (excluding the City of Duluth) and be committed to solving their financial problems with long-term solutions.
Program Description: The Foreclosure Prevention Assistance Program helps homeowners examine their options when facing a foreclosure situation. We offer financial counseling, access to community resources, help working with your mortgage company, information about the foreclosure process, and financial assistance. Call us if you are having difficulties making your house payments.
How does the program work?
- The homeowner submits an application and necessary documentation to AEOA.
- AEOA works with the homeowner's mortgage company, gathers information, & begins to develop a plan to address the homeownership and financial issues.
- The homeowner may always meet with an AEOA Homeownership Counselor to go over the application in detail and continue the process of developing a plan to resolve the mortgage delinquency. This includes an in-depth look at the homeowner's finances to develop a budget for the future.
